BIG NEWS for members of the Pen2Profit Community! We're expanding to make your writing life even more satisfying.
Believe it or not, my goal for Pen2Profit isn't to make money (though I would never scoff at an opportunity). My single passionate goal is to help burgeoning writers grow their revenue stream and audience quickly and with less frustration.
With that in mind, I'm expanding the scope of Pen2Profit so I can continue to bring you the same high-quality articles and also share a sub-focus: Tools and Resources for Writers. These stories will appear in between the typical Pen2Profit stories. A few may be designated for paid subscribers.
What kinds of tools and resources for writers
We'll look at writing software—perhaps comparing popular writing tools like Scrivener, Grammarly, and Hemingway with insights into their features, pricing, and user experiences.
We'll consider productivity tools by discussing apps and tools to help writers stay organized and productive, maybe Trello, Evernote, or Clockify for freelancers.
Resource libraries— From time to time, we'll do listicles curating important assets for writers, such as websites for royalty-free images, databases for research, and style guides.
Classes, courses, and newsletters
Long ago, I managed a section for a now-defunct website that was loosely a forerunner of Substack and Medium. It was called Suite101. The site was a compendium of topic sections designed to resemble 101-level learning—like Writing101, Freelancing101, Consumer Tech101 and dozens of others.
My sections were on writing and on consumer tech products. It was a satisfying project over some years, and I'll try to recreate the feel for all of you. Thanks for reading Pen2Profit—I promise to make it even better!
We'll kick off these stories on Monday, December 2, when we look at sites that curate license-free images. They're perfect for feature images in your stories.
If you would like me to write about a particular type of writing resource, tell me in the comments, and I’ll compile a list of requests! Your input means the world to me!
Yes! this could be really fun to write and helpful to read. Thanks for the great idea!
I'd appreciate some storytelling tips, particularly for culture & lifestyle writers
